Here's a pretty cool website where you can learn a foreign language online, for free. They include the full textbook, and many tapes for learning to speak and understand. For example, in the beginning Spanish language tape they say Buenos dias, then they pause and you repeat what they said. The accompanying 700-page text starts with common phrases, such as Buenos dias, and an English translation.
The U.S. government's foreign service group developed its own programs to teach foreign languages to their employees. Those programs are considered part of the public domain, and are therefore made available to the public, free of charge, on this website.
