Howard Zinn (1922 - 2010)


Howard Zinn died today. It's a terrible loss for our country. What a great man. He contributed to the education of, and continued to push our country to get better and get right until his last days, at the age of 87.

Howard Zinn is best known for his book The People's History of the United States in which he presented history honestly, with a focus on the lives of ordinary people. Readings around the country based on that book were filmed and recently shown on the History Channel.

Howard Zinn served in the military in World War II and was active in the civil rights, and in progressive politics for his entire life.
