President Obama: the Nixon Of His Time?

Vietnam was a colony of France. After World War II, the people of Vietnam asked to be freed from the colonial empire, but the western nations ignored those requests. That began what would be 25 years of warfare against the people of Vietnam, first by the French, then by the U.S.

In 1970, after being thoroughly unsuccessful at defeating the people of Vietnam, Richard Nixon made the brilliant decision to expand the war, and invade Cambodia. No congressional declaration, despite the constitutional requirement. Nixon's speech to the public announcing his decision to escalate the war was not well-received, and the additional expansion of the war, additional murders of people in Southeast Asia, were for no purpose at all. Eventually, finally, the U.S. left Vietnam, left those poor people to struggle to rebuild their country and their lives.

President Obama might want to take a glance at this speech by Richard Nixon, given in April of 1970.

Look at this pathetic loser Richard Nixon. Does Obama really want to become known as the "Nixon Of His Time?"

Doesn't anyone in our government ever listen? Are they all incapable of learning? Afghanistan does not belong to us. It is not our country. We have no right to be there, never mind to throw more guns and bombs and bodies into the war in the desperate and pathetic hope that this will let us "win" the war. Ain't gonna happen. It's not our country. We need to leave.
